What Breeders Are Saying about Us.....
"Mare care at Carlin Arabians: My
mare, Quila spent "The breeding experience at Carlin Arabians was a pleasure for both me and my mare Lisa. Jak was a gentleman and so sweet and easy on my mare. I loved that there were NOT a lot of extra expenses involved and Liz was so easy to work with. I am looking forward to an absolutely wonderful foal." -June Irhazy (Rivers Bend Arabian Ranch) Before
I begin, I would encourage you to read my first testimony, which can be
found on Carlin Arabians’ website, which I wrote about my first
impression and meeting with Jumpin Jak Flash and Liz Carlin.
This
testimony will describe my first experience breeding my maiden mare,
Scarlett, with Jumpin’ Jak. After
a number of years of desiring to breed my mare with Jak, I studied my
mare’s heat cycle closely and tried to ascertain a window of time when
she was ready for breeding. My
mare came into season during a horse show – on a Sunday.
I knew that this was the time when I needed to get her down to Liz
to get her bred to Jak. On no
notice and only the very next day, I called my friend, Annie, who had a
trailer. I asked her if she
would take my mare and I to Jak the following day, on Tuesday morning.
Fortunately, she was available.
We met Tuesday and rushed her down.
We arrived and Liz was waiting for us – ready to collect my mare,
Scarlett. Immediately she
knew – by my mare’s behavior - that the time was NOW.
Within minutes of unloading my mare, she was being bred with Jak.
Although my mare was maiden, she showed no fear and stood – quiet
while Jak, being ever so careful and confident, took care of business.
I wanted to resist, but I trusted Liz.
I was absolutely astonished because it was one of the most natural
(and surreal) experiences I had ever witnessed.
Liz verbally directed Jak – he listened and was ever so careful.
I never thought that I would be there;
fully participating in the breeding, but it was the exact and perfect
time. My
mare accepted one more breeding the following day and that was it.
Liz was right – there was no time to waste.
I never worried about Scarlett while she was in Liz’s care, even
though she had never been away from me in the over twelve years I have had
her. I knew Liz would take
good care of her and she contacted me daily on my mare’s status.
When
I picked up my mare, she was obviously very comfortable and relaxed.
When I had her checked for the first time to determine whether or
not she was pregnant (through an ultrasound), my vet determined that she
got pregnant the very day we delivered her, which meant it occurred
the day we delivered her to Liz. We
actually were present and a part of facilitating the insemination!
Liz was right - the time was right! We’re
expecting the foal in mid-May. I
am hoping that I can breed my mare again with Jak because the first
experience was wonderful and something I will certainly never forget! I
can’t think of a better stallion or a better facility where I would take
(and leave) my mare. I am so
impressed by Liz (and Jak) because, without doubt, they know their stuff!
A big fan I am, Yvette Killingham.
